Technology summary

AJAXup provides a new GUI-on-device technology which enables tiny (8-bit) microcontroller-based devices to be controlled and monitored from browser windows.

The three pillars of the technology are

  1. HTTP on tiny devices.  We put or help you to put a tiny-foot-print web server firmware onto small (8-bit) microcontrollers !
  2. A proxy middleware (the AJAXup middleware) on a PC or on router hardware to connect the HTTP devices with the browsers or the internet, and additional features to enable great GUIs from tiny devices.
  3. AJAX-based GUI scripting for devices.

An innovative and resource-optimized combination of these three parts of the GUI-on-device technology results in a unique GUI platform for small and low-cost microcontroller-based devices that are enabled to interface to the user in standard browsers using HTML- and AJAX-scripts.

The technology is particularly useful for devices that may be as small as 8-bit, 32 kB memory, that do not have room for a TCP/IP-stack, and may be prone to low connection speeds such as 9,6 kbps or similar.

Since these devices speak HTTP then, remote control is available practically for free.  A remote access function with a simple and secure access scheme is provided in the Middleware.

Security is important and therefore the middleware opens access only to those browsers which were started by the middleware or which were granted access in a simple and secure procedure.  This avoids access from browsers that are surfing in the internet and may start scanning local ports.

Patent applications are pending.
